Volkswagen Group China has always been committed to promoting child road safety. Together with its two joint ventures, FAW-Volkswagen and SAIC VOLKSWAGEN, and along with six Group brands, Volkswagen Group China launched this project in November 2013.
A series of CSR activities, including child safety seats donation, roadshows, forums and activities were carried out in more than 100 cities across China, reaching more than 100,000 families and over three million people. Working together with the Research Center of the Ministry of Public Safety and the China Automobile & Technology Research Center (CATARC), Volkswagen Group China supported “The China Child Road Safety & Feasibility Study on the Compulsory Use of Child Passenger Restraint Systems in China” and released the Blue Book on Child Road Safety in China for three consecutive years, starting in 2014. In 2015, Volkswagen Group China officially established the Volkswagen Group China Child Safety Fund in partnership with the China Women’s Development Foundation (CWDF), building the first community-based Child Safety Experience Centers in 13 cities around China and setting up the Child Road Safety Public Welfare Platform that focused on “Experience Center”. In 2018, to explore a new model of children's traffic-friendly community, Volkswagen Group China launched the first "Child Traffic-Friendly Community” program in China, selecting the Shuanghe Community in Chengdu’s High-tech Industrial Development Zone, where the Volkswagen Child Safety Experience Center in Chengdu is located, as a pilot project. To date, more than 910,000 people have directly benefited from the program.
